#23 THE END!!!

Although it has taken me two 'goes' to finally get to the end, I really feel that it is has been a very useful exercise. On the way I discovered quite a few things I did not know and added these skills to my 'repertoire'!
Really liked the Library Thing - yes, believe it or not, I am cataloguing my home library!
Was also good to have a bit more of a play with the RSS feeds, podcasts and embedding of audio/visual files. It made me stop and think about it a bit more. Feel definitely more comfortable with it now.
Need to keep looking at Wikis and how we can implement them in "our" library. Can see so many possibilities for these.
It really is good to keep looking at new developments in technology. There is so much new stuff around, you just have to maintain the momentum, otherwise one gets left behind... and there's no way that I want that to happen!
#22 AUDIO BOOKS
All the links in this section did not function anymore (Probably because the Victorian Learning 2.0 has been inactive for quite a while now, I think...). However, I had investigated Overdrive recently and have been familiar with the Gutenberg project for a while, so I feel comfortable that I will be able to utilise any sites/information.

I really think that with the event of MP3 files, iPods etc. the audiobook market will more and more become digitised. It gives people more choice and the opportunity to read for recreation or information anywhere, anytime, anyhow.

Although at present the cost of some of the media formats is quite high, I'm sure with greater use and increasing popularity this will also change in the future.

#21 CASTING PODS...
Found that I had set up a bloglines account ages ago (and yes! forgot my password... One day I hope we can work with fingerprints or iris recognition - maybe something for us to develop :-)

Already had 5 RSS feeds set up (all library related), so this time added something completely different : ABC's triple j New Music Podcasts -

Yeah - we're getting there!
#20 I too can YouTube!

I love this one!

#18 Web based apps.
Had a quick look at this, but don't need to do much about this. Have been using Google docs for a host of things. Have set up on-line booking spread sheets for use by staff in stead of A4 photocopied sheets - working well, also have done quite a bit with google docs and set up a Group site for people I shared my last holiday with so we can communicate and share photos. Feel very comfortable with all this...
#17 Sandbox wiki
Had a look at one of these really simple little presentations. They are brilliant. So clear! Within 2 minutes I learnt how to set up and use wikis. Great stuff! Great alternative to emailing groups of people!
#16 So what's in a wiki?

Like the idea of having wikis on the UMRL website. I'm sure there will be interest "out there" from people who would like to contribute, especially when it comes to reviewing. Opens up opportunities for exchange of ideas and opinions. Only question is: who (should there be someone to) moderate the wikis?
